Justice must for world peace, says expert

HYDERABAD, Nov 20: Dr Gunter Mulack, head of the office of "Dialogue with Islam" in Berlin, Germany, has called upon people of the world to launch a joint struggle for international peace and against injustices that have led to many wars.

He was delivering a lecture on "Dialogue with Islam" organized by International Relations department of the Sindh University in Jamshoro on Saturday.

He said that many wars had been fought but problems of the people had remained unresolved and added that dialogue was only option for resolution of problems faced by the mankind.

He said that German scholars had played a key role in building bridges between various countries and added that renowned German scholar Dr Annemarie Schimmel had been a great friend of Pakistan.

Dr Mulack said that Germany was in the forefront in offering dialogue to the Muslim countries. He said that Islam was the religion of peace, love and tolerance and stressed the need for understanding the teachings of Islam.

Pointing out that tolerance was a two-way traffic, he underlined the need for social justice and respect for basic human rights and added that society should launch a joint struggle against injustices, corruption and other evils haunting the mankind.

He exhorted the youth of Pakistan to concentrate on education and said that only through education they could be in a position to play their due role in the development of their country.

Dr Mulack said that great opportunities existed in Pakistan for foreign investors but added that it depended on peaceful atmosphere. He cited the example of Bangladesh and India in this regard.

He said that in most of the Muslim countries, more than 80 per cent seminaries had been modernized and added that education played a key role in the development of any country.

He further said that rule of law, equity and justice were equally important factors for the progress of any nation.

Speaking on the occasion, vice-chancellor of the Sindh University Mazharul Haq Siddiqui appreciated the point of view of the guest for the promotion of world peace.

He said that dialogue with Islam was the need of the hour all over the world. He said that injustices in any part of the world were likely to create hurdles in the way of world peace.

He said that according to Islam, the murder of an individual was tantamount to the murder of entire mankind and saving one human life was tantamount to saving the entire mankind.

Mr Siddiqui stressed that education alone could help promote world peace and added that scholars and intellectuals could play a pivotal role in this regard.

Dr Lutfullah Mangi, head of the department of International Relations, introduced the guest speaker. Professor Ghulam Hussain Khaskheli, Dr Deedar Hussain Shah and Dr Abdul Latif Tunio also spoke on the occasion.
