HYDERABAD: Occupation of amenity plot decried

By Our Correspondent

HYDERABAD, Nov 20: Nationalist leader Syed Jalal Mehmood Shah has condemned occupation of an amenity plot near the shrine of Garho Ghot in Bhittai Colony by an influential person with the connivance of the Kotri police.

Talking to a delegation of the Kotri SITE Area Residents Action Committee at his Jamshoro residence on Saturday, he offered support to them against the land grabber.

The delegation informed Mr Shah of excesses committed by the Kotri police against the people of the Bhittai Colony.

He told the delegation that he would join their protest movement if the land grabber was not ejected from the plot and cases were not withdrawn against the people of the locality.

He also demanded immediate release of those arrested on the Eid day when they had come to the plot to offer Eid prayers.

He said that action should be taken against the land grabber who had occupied the amenity plot.

Kotri Taluka Nazim Khuda Bux Joyo, who was present on the occasion, also offered support to the action committee.

Meanwhile, the members of the action committee continued a token hunger strike outside the Hyderabad Press Club to protest against the ADPO and SHO of Kotri for allegedly supporting the land grabber.

Talking to newsmen, the leaders of the action committee, Shabbir Magsi, Inayat Almani, Irshad Panhwar and others, called on the government to take strict action against the ADPO and SHO for resorting to firing on the faithful on Eid day.
