PESHAWAR: NWFP health secretary may be removed

By Our Correspondent

PESHAWAR, Nov 20: The provincial government is likely to replace secretary health with someone from Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani's native district, sources said.

"Soon after a reshuffle at the hospital level, the NWFP government has moved a summary recommending the replacement of the incumbent secretary health by someone hailing from Bannu district," sources said.

The incumbent Secretary Health Abdus Samad was reportedly posted a few months ago on the recommendation of Jammaat-i-Islami, adding that he had lost the confidence of the NWFP chief minister like the DG Health Dr Jalilur Rehman, who is under suspension for the past one-and-a-half month.

Secretary Forest Habibullah, who also belonged to Bannu district, was stated to be a strong candidate for what was termed to be a lucrative post.
