Fahd urged to release three reformists

RIYADH, Nov 20: A petition signed by almost eight thousand Gulf citizens has been submitted to King Fahd appealing for the release of three Saudi reformists languishing in jail for the past eight months.

"We have collected around 8,000 signatures, mostly from Kuwait," activist Nasser Al Abdali said. "The petition was sent in a form of letter to King Fahd just three days before Eid-ul-Fitr."

The signature drive was launched in the GCC states, except Saudi Arabia, with the advent of Ramazan.

Ali Al Demaini, Matruk Al Faleh and Abdullah Al Hamed were arrested in mid-March and facing charges for demanding a constitutional monarchy in Saudi Arabia.
