LAHORE, Nov 19: All-rounder Naved Latif's appeal to waive off a fine of Rs 5,000 and one-match suspension imposed on him for tampering with the ball, in a domestic match, has been rejected by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Naved, who has been involved in the same offence on many occasions in the past, was again found guilty in the ongoing Quaid-i-Azam Trophy match against Lahore Blues while representing Faisalabad.

The match referee Abdul Sami Khan saw Naved tampering with the ball and imposed penalty. Naved later appealed against the decision which had been rejected, a Paksitan Cricket Board (PCB) spokesman confirmed on Friday.

However, it is alleged that a conspiracy was hatched against Abdul Sami Khan by Naved's well wishers as a result of which Sami, who had been recommended as referee for the ongoing Intercontinental Cup in United Arab Emirates was replaced by Khateeb Rizwan. However, the spokesman insisted that Sami had never been recommended for the assignment.
