KARACHI: Governor praises people over law, order
KARACHI, Nov 16: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has appreciated the cooperation of people and services of police and civil administration in maintaining law and order in the city during Ramazan
, enabling people to do Eid shopping without any fear and also celebrate the occasion enthusiastically amid peaceful conditions.
He was talking to a large number of people who visited the Governor's House on Eid day to exchange greetings with him.
Corps Commander Lt-Gen Syed Athar Ali, Chief Secretary Aslam Sanjrani, ministers and senior military, police and civil services officials, ulema, prominent figures were among those who visited the Governor's House.
Talking to them, Dr Ibad said that his mission was to ensure security and facilities to all citizens in the province. He said that whatever he did was under a commitment and sense of worship.
The unprecedented display of mutual cooperation and spirit, as well as the congenial atmosphere, enabled Karachiites to observe Ramazan and Eid in a memorable manner.
He expressed the hope that people would maintain the same spirit on every festival in future to ensure prosperity and development in the province.
The guests also appreciated the governor's personal interest and efforts in maintaining law and order in the city and ensuring peace and security. In this context, they particularly lauded to his frequent visits to various shopping areas, markets and mosques during Ramazan.
On this occasion, they apprised the governor of their problems. Dr Ibad issued on the spot instructions on some of the applications.
Later, Dr Ibad attended a reception held for the employees of the Governor's House, and exchanged greetings with them.
EID PRAYERS: Governor Dr Ibad and Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim offered Eid prayers at Bagh-i-Jinnah (formerly Polo Ground) here on Sunday along with a significant number of provincial cabinet members and notables of the city.
The congregation was largely attended by Karachi-based foreign diplomats besides politicians, activists and people from all walks of life.
On the occasion, the governor and chief minister especially prayed for peace and tranquillity in the country and across the globe, and particularly in Muslim countries. They also prayed for prosperity and development of Pakistan.
After the prayers, Dr Ibad and Dr Arbab intermingled with faithful and exchanged greetings with them.
Eid prayers across the city were held amid stringent security. Law-enforcement agencies remained alert at all the venues of congregation to avert any untoward incident.
Inspector General of Police, Sindh, Syed Kamal Shah visited police hospital on Eid day and inquired about the health and welfare of the injured and ailing police officials there.
He asked the duty doctors to pay full attention to the patients. He also presented gifts to the police personnel.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that every officer and jawan of the police force was important to the department. -APP
