KARACHI, Nov 12: A large number of candidates, intending to get admissions to Masters programmes at the University of Karachi could not get admission forms even on the last date , which ended on November 11, due to various reasons including shortage of admission forms at various branches.

Some candidates told PPI on Friday that they were not provided admission forms at various designated branches of the UBL in Malir City, Shah Faisal Colony, Hyderi and elsewhere.

"Admission forms were not available at Malir City branches while the Shah Faisal Colony branch was closed on Wednesday and Thursday. We had to go to the Bait-ul-Mukarram branch, where too, we could not get forms as bank timings were over," a female candidate said. While the UBL KU branch was also not issuing admission forms, she remarked.

Another candidate said there was tremendous rush at the Hyderi and Bait-ul-Mukarram branches as forms were not available at many other parts of the city, owing to which many candidates could not obtain and submit admission forms.

Some other candidates said that banks closed earlier owing to Ramazan, and that added to the hardships of students, who were intending to get admissions forms. They added that the situation resulted in their failure in submitting admission forms.

Director Admissions of KU Dr Mohammed Ishaque could not be contacted; however, another member of the admission committee said that keeping in view the above mentioned complaints, the Vice Chancellor, Dr Pirzada Qasim, may extend the date for admissions forms.

Meanwhile, the Islami Jamiat Talaba has drawn the attention of KU VC and director admissions towards the scarcity of admissions forms for masters at various UBL branches. They demanded an extension in submission date. - PPI
