LCCI, Indian body to promote trade

LAHORE, Nov 2: Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Punjab-Haryana-Delhi (PHD) Chamber of Commerce and Industry will form a 12-member joint committee to promote trade and business between Pakistan and India.

The decision was made during the visit of a delegation of PHDCCI to Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) here on Tuesday.

Leader of the delegation, President, PHDCCI, Ravi Wig while speaking on the occasion said that there is a need for the restoration of missing links for the speedy promotion of business between two states.

He expressed the hope that the decision to form a joint committee of the two chambers would go a long way in the promotion of Indo-Pak trade.

Earlier in his address of welcome, President LCCI, Mian Misbah-ur-Rehman said that six members of Pakistan-India joint business committee would be selected from Lahore chamber while the remaining six would be from Indian side.

This body, he said, would meet after every two months and find out ways and means for more business between the two countries.

Mian Misbah also proposed formation of a committee on cottage industry of the two neighbouring countries besides urging the businessmen from both the sides to make their moves fast for a better future of the people of this region.-APP
