KARACHI: Activist among three killed

KARACHI, Oct 31: An activist of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement and two others were killed in different areas on Sunday.

Police said that Azmatullah was asleep in his in-laws' house, near Labour Square in Landhi, when some people knocked at the door. As Azmatullah opened the door, they fired at him and fled.

Police said that victim was an MQM activist. His body was taken to the JPMC.

A 60-year-old beggar was stabbed to death near Mai Kolachi on Sunday.

Police said that Moro Baba was stabbed by Anwer who had arrived in the city recently. Two cell phones and handycam were found in possession of the deceased.

Police on Saturday night shot dead an suspected bandit and arrested his wounded companion.

According to the police, the two suspects came to the shop of Nisar in Khajoor Bazaar, in Kharadar police limits. At gunpoint, they demanded cash. On his resistance, he was shot at and wounded.

In the meantime, a police party reached there and in the ensuing encounter, one of the suspects died, police added. His alleged accomplice also sustained bullet injuries butescaped, they said, adding that police received information about his presence at Civil Hospital from where he was taken into custody.

The injured shopkeeper was taken to the Civil Hospital.
