ISLAMABAD, Oct 20: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has announced the test results of "Overseas Scholarship Scheme for PhD in selected fields", an official statement said here on Tuesday.

The test was conducted on October 3 all over the country simultaneously. As many as 3,586 candidates applied for the scholarships, while 3,149 of them appeared in the test.

The scheme was announced by the HEC recently and applications were invited for PhD scholarships to study at higher educational institutions in France, Austria, Germany, China and the Netherlands.

Out of 3,149 candidates, 316 candidates obtained 50 per cent or above marks. These 316 candidates would be called for interview in accordance with discipline-wise allocation for final selection.

The HEC has further announced the test results of "Abroad Scholarship Scheme for PhD".

As many as 753 candidates applied for the scholarship, however, only 395 appeared in the test.

This scheme is for PhD scholarships to study at higher education institutions in France, Austria and Germany, specifically. These scholarships are being offered particularly for faculty members of public-sector universities and colleges and employees of research and development organizations.

Out of 395 candidates, 34 candidates obtained 50 per cent or above marks. These candidates would be called for interview according to their choice of country for final selection.
