SUKKUR, Oct 20: Work to fill ditches developed in the Sukkur Barrage and the Dadu Canal will be assigned to the Frontier Works Organization.
The decision was taken at a meeting between Brigadier Jawed Ashraf of the FWO and irrigation authorities on Wednesday.
According to information, a high-level meeting will be held in Sukkur on Oct 25 to review the repair work of the Sukkur Barrage, which has been carried out so far.
The head regulator of the Dadu Canal at Ruk was closed after two ditches, measuring 25 and eight feet, developed in the canal.
A 500 feet deep channel will be constructed at the Rice Canal to provide water to areas which earlier used to get water from the Dadu Canal.
LANDLORD KILLED: A landlord was killed by armed bandits in the Mehrab Khoso village, near Thul, on Tuesday night.
The landlord, Mujeebur Rehman Khoso, was on his way to home when the bandits tried to kidnap him. On his resistance, the bandits shot him dead.
DEMONSTRATION: Wagon and bus drivers held a protest demonstration outside the office of the Jacobabad taluka nazim on Wednesday against collection of Rs20 per vehicle by taluka council authorities.
