KARACHI: Three die in road accidents

KARACHI, Oct 20: Three persons, including a six-year-old boy and a woman, died in road accidents in different parts of the city on Wednesday.

Police said that Osama was playing outside his house in Sector 7-D of Orangi Town when a speeding truck knocked him down and escaped. The seriously injured boy was taken to the nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Later, police shifted his body to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities.

A young woman was knocked down to death on Sharea Faisal. Police said that a speeding vehicle hit Ghulam Fatima, 28, when she was crossing main Sharea Faisal. She was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where doctors pronounced her dead.

In Saddar, a speeding vehicle hit and injured a teenaged boy. Police said that Danial, 15, was crossing a road when he was hit by a speeding vehicle within the jurisdiction of Saddar police station. The young boy was taken to the JPMC where he died during treatment.

SHOT DEAD: A man was shot dead outside his house in Mohammadi Colony on Wednesday morning. Police said that Abdul Lateef, 40, was standing near his house when armed men on a motorcycle opened fire at him and fled. Lateef was taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi where he was pronounced dead on arrival, police added.

FIRE: A fire erupted in a textile mill, located in SITE area on Wednesday. According to the fire department officials, a total of 10 fire tenders worked for hours to control the raging fire. The officials said that the cause and extent of the damage incurred by the fire could not be ascertained immediately.

ARRESTED: The SITE police foiled a dacoity bid at a petrol station located at main Manghopir Road.

Police said that two armed suspects were collecting cash at gunpoint from the cashier of Sarhad Petrol Pump at Manghopir Road, when Sub-inspector Irfan Afridi who was passing through rushed to the spot and caught the suspects.
