Gas pipeline discussed with Russia

MOSCOW, Oct 13: Russian natural gas monopoly Gazprom's Chief Executive Alexei Miller and Pakistan's Ambassador to Russia Iftikhar Murshed have discussed the construction of a pipeline to carry natural gas from the Iranian deposit of Southern Pars to India via Pakistan, news agency Prime-Tass said on Tuesday, citing Gazprom.

No details about the proposed project have been released. Following the talks, Gazprom decided to form a working group on cooperation with Pakistan.

Gazprom and Pakistan's Oil and Natural Resources Ministry had earlier signed a memorandum of understanding for the possibility of collaboration in the exploration and development of Pakistan's oil and natural gas fields, the improvement of Pakistan's natural gas infrastructure, the creation of underground storage facilities for natural gas, and projects for using natural gas as motor fuel. -Dow Jones Newswires
