Tax returns date extended

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Oct 1: The Central Board of Revenue has extended the last date for filing of tax returns up to Oct 15.

CBR spokesman M.S. Lal said on Friday that the board had issued instructions to all the income tax commissioners that no penalty might be imposed if the returns were filed by Oct 15.

He said the date was extended as a number of taxpayers were not able to file returns because of various reasons, particularly the Shab-i-Barat.

Some of the tax payers had already sought extension for the filing of returns whereas others could not do so, he said and added the CBR hoped that the taxpayers would avail the relaxation.
