KARACHI, Oct 1: The local chapter of the Pakistan People's Party on Friday resolved to step up its campaign against retention of uniform by Gen Pervez Musharraf, Kalabagh dam, water shortage and soaring prices amid growing unemployment.

The PPP meeting, chaired by its Karachi chapter president Rashid Rabbani, decided to hold mobilization meetings in Ramazan for which the district and city area party leadership had been asked to draw plans.

It also demanded that prices of essential items be lowered before Ramazan. The meeting also deplored the terrorist attack in a mosque in Sialkot in which several worshippers were killed and injured. It accused the government of failing to protect the life of citizens.

The meeting was of the view that instead of ensuring security of the people, the government was more concerned about the passage of pro-uniform resolutions in assemblies that were violative of the constitution.

It also adopted a resolution demanding immediate release of Asif Ali Zardari languishing in jails. The meeting also demanded arrest of the killers of Abdullah Murad and Munawar Suhrawardy and slammed the government for failing to apprehend culprits.
