KARACHI, Sept 28: The week-long environment education programme for city government school teachers, organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF-Pakistan) in collaboration with environmental education unit of Sindh Local Government Department and city district government, will be concluding on Tuesday.
WWF's Education and Communication Officer Shameer Ali Prasla said that the training programme was meant to build capacity of school teachers in accordance with new science textbooks focusing on environmental problems and their solutions.
He said that the updated and more practical curricula was jointly published by the Sindh Textbook Board and Education Resource Development Centre, an NGO working on educational promotion.
For the first time, separate units on environment had been included in the science textbooks for secondary classes, he said.
Shameer Ali said that 13 school teachers from Gulberg Town and 11 Master Trainers from various towns of the city participated in this interactive and activity-based programme. -APP
