Bullet-proof cars for Saarc summit

By Our Correspondent

DHAKA, Sept 23: The government of Bangladesh has decided to take special security measures for heads of state and government and other dignitaries who will be attending the Saarc summit in Dhaka, to be held from Jan 9 to 11.

There will be bullet proof cars for all the dignitaries and the number of closed-circuit television cameras will be increased at the airport and the Dhaka Sheraton Hotel. The decisions were made on Thursday at a meeting of the committee on Saarc security.

The meeting also decided to deploy a full-fledged medical team comprising senior physicians at the Sheraton. The committee had earlier decided that the Special Security Force would ensure overall security measures during the summit with core assistance from the Rapid Action Battalion.
