Harrington returns to form


COLOGNE, Sept 12: Ireland's Padraig Harrington demonstrated his return to form five days before the Ryder Cup, with victory in the German Masters on Sunday. A closing one-under-par 71, to total 13-under-par 275, put Harrington three strokes in front of Australian Nick O'Hern.

CHEONAN: American Edward Loar showed nerves of steel to take the 400,000-dollar Kolon Korean Open by three strokes after a final round one-under-par 71. The left-handed Loar beat Scotsman Simon Yates, who closed with a 69 while world number three Ernie Els of South Africa was a further stroke back in third place after shooting 75 on a blustery day at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club.

OAKVILLE: Mike Weir, seeking to become the first home winner of the Canadian Open for 50 years, hit a one-under-par 70 to take a three-shot lead after the third round of the 100th version of the event on Saturday.

Vijay Singh of Fiji, American Cliff Kresge and Jesper Parnevik of Sweden shared second place behind Weir, who will have a boisterous home crowd behind him in the final round.
