Aisam in final

LAHORE, Sept 12: Aisamul Haq qualified for the final of Asian tennis championships after beating Chinese Pong Sun 6-7 (12-10), 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) at Tashkent, Uzbekistan on Sunday.

The first set which was extended to a tie break at 6-6 went to the Chinese, but Aisam kept his cool and easily managed to win the second. The third was quite similar to the first one. Aisam was down 4-5 (30-40) but quickly came back to dominate the court during this tie break and eventually won the set.

The match lasted two hours and 40 minutes. Aisam faces Wang You Tzoo of Taiwan who had defeated Mohammed Al Ghareeb of Kuwait in the other semifinal. Earlier, Aisam beat Alexy Kedriouk of Kazakhstan in the quarterfinals 6-4, 7-6 (11-9) and top Malaysian Davis Cupper Yew Ming Si in the pre-quarterfinals 6-4, 6-4.

In the second round, he defeated Anuwat Dalodom of Thailand 6-1, 6-4. Aisam had won the doubles title of this championship last year but this time he is playing only singles.
