PNAC secures membership of ILAC

Published September 13, 2004

ISLAMABAD, Sept 12: Pakistan National Accreditation Council (PNAC) has secured membership of International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), a supreme international body in this field.

The membership has opened the way for the council to participate in the general assembly and standing committee meetings of ILAC, thus contributing to the international efforts and remaining updated in the accreditation field.

PNAC, an autonomous organization of Ministry of Science and Technology, will constitute a team of experts to participate in these meetings and pave the way for signing Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRAs) with other member accreditation bodies.

It is worth-mentioning to note that the WTO agreements lay emphasis on harmonization of conformity assessment procedure and the role of recognized accreditation bodies is very important in the international trade. - APP
