LAHORE: Board formed to retrieve land from grabbers

By Our Reporter

LAHORE, Sept 12: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has constituted a board for the implementation of an action plan for retrieving the government land in Murree and other hill stations from grabbers.

Minister for Chief Minister's Inspection Team Shuja Khanzada said this while talking to delegations of Pakistan Muslim League workers and citizens here on Sunday.

He said the board, headed by Inspection Team Member Sheikh Zafar Iqbal, and comprising the Rawalpindi district coordination officer, officials of the Murree Development Authority and the revenue department, would identify the government land in possession of land grabbers. The government would ensure resumption of possession of such land brushing aside all kinds of pressures and influences.

Mr Khanzada said the chief minister had allowed a Rs100 million grant to the Water and Sanitation Agency of Lahore Development Authority for refurbishment of the sewerage system and installation of additional pumps at disposal stations. The inspection team was monitoring the utilization of the grant and would not tolerate any wastage or misuse of funds, he said.
