KARACHI, Sept 11: Former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad has criticised the scheduling of the ICC Champions Trophy in England.

The veteran of 124 Tests and 233 One-day Internationals also hit out at the sport's ruling body for introducing two experimental rules at the tournament.

"The tournament is being organised at the time when most games will be disrupted by weather. The event is only being held because it had to be organised. There is no other objective except to earn money," he in a television interview on Saturday.

Miandad, who scored 8,832 Test and 7,381 One-day International runs, believes the ICC is wrong to experiment with rules in such a high profile tournament.

Miandad, who stepped down as Pakistan coach for a third time in June, does not support the experiment of the third umpire calling no-balls and the umpires being wired to stumps by microphones to judge caught behind decisions.

"It puzzles me that the ICC decided to introduce the laws in such a tight tournament. I would have thought such laws would be experimented with in a less tense series," Miandad said.-Reuters
