KARACHI: Hamida seeks help for education

KARACHI, Sept 11: The Sindh Minister for Education and Literacy, Dr Hamida Khuhro, has called upon well-established educational institutes of private sector and philanthropists to come forward for providing free , and quality education by opening primary and secondary schools for intelligent but poor and needy children.

She said this while speaking as chief guest at the orientation programme for students and faculty members at the Institute of Business Management (IBM) at Korangi Creek on Saturday.

The minister was of the view that till a few years ago, youngsters used to go abroad for acquisition of education. However, she said that there were some good institutions here as well.

She also emphasised the need for special attention towards teaching of English and mathematics, saying that if needed, expert teachers of these subjects would be invited from abroad for public sector institutions.

Talib Karim, Director, IBM in his welcome address, said that the institute would establish a school of primary level for poor intelligent youngsters by August next year. Textbooks as well as uniforms would be provided free of charge, he added. - APP
