KARACHI: Hospitals to get staff, equipment

KARACHI, Sept 7: Adviser to Chief Minister for Health Faisal Malik has said the government is trying to make the existing hospitals and health units practically functional by overcoming staff and equipment shortage.

The objective is to provide better medical facilities to people near their places of residence, said the adviser while talking to people who had come to tell him about their medical problems.

The adviser pointed out that the government's priority was to make health and medical facilities available to people closer to their homes for which the functioning of all the government hospitals and health centres was being streamlined.

He said action had been initiated against those who showed negligence towards the discharge of their responsibilities, misusing their powers and shifting their responsibility onto others.

He said while their working was being monitored, the government was also aware of their problems and steps were being taken for their solution. However, those showing irresponsible attitude and negligence towards their responsibilities and causing inconvenience to people were not sincere to the country and action was being taken against them as per the laid down rules. He said hard working personnel would be duly encouraged. - APP
