LAHORE: Governor, CM condole Ashfaque's death


LAHORE, Sept 7: Governor Khalid Maqbool has expressed his deep sense of grief and sorrow over the death of writer and broadcaster Ashfaque Ahmed.

In a condolence message to Ashfaque's wife, Bano Qudsia, and other family members, the governor said in his death the country had lost an eminent literary and intellectual figure who enjoyed a unique position among his contemporaries due to his universal message of affection for humanity.

PERVAIZ: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi, in a statement issued on Tuesday, paid rich tributes to the late Ashfaque Ahmad and said an intellectual of his calibre was a rare literary asset for the country.

"I was personally inspired by his writings and have found guidance from his plays, books and literary works," he said. He also sent a condolence message to Bano Qudsia.

SHUJAAT: PML President Shujaat Husain also expressed sorrow over the death of Ashfaque Ahmed. In a letter to Bano Qudsia, he observed that the late Ashfaque Ahmed was a simple and affectionate person who, throughout his life, worked for the betterment of humanity. -APP/PPI
