Action against legislators revengeful: PPP-P

KARACHI, Sept 4: Pakistan Peoples Party-Parliamentarians have condemned the government for registering 'fake' cases against its MNA Manzoor Hussain Wassan and MPA Nawab Hussain Wassan, and also confiscating their licensed arms in violation of court orders.

At a meeting of party legislators held here on Saturday, with Syed Qaim Ali Shah in the chair, it was alleged that Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim was taking revenge from the PPP leaders for opposing Mr Shaukat Aziz in the NA-229 Tharparkar by-election.

The MNAs, MPAs and Senators expressed the view that the PPP-P had brought rigging in the by-election before the entire world due to which its leaders were being subjected to such revengeful acts.

They noted that the Wassan brothers had been arrested a day before the by-election and their vehicles and licensed guns confiscated.

They deplore that despite assurances held out by provincial authorities and police, the confiscated vehicles and guns had not yet been returned and a case had also been registered against their driver also.

"The Wassan brothers had approached a court which ordered the administration to return their belongings but even the court orders have not been complied with," the meeting observed.

Those present at the meeting were Senator Raza Rabbani, Nisar Khuhro, Naheed Khan, Nawab Yousuf Talpur, Prof N. D. Khan, Dr Safdar Abbasi and Rashid Rabbani.-PPI
