HYDERABAD: Call to end occupation of Bhitai Colony ground

By Bureau Report

HYDERABAD, Sept 1: The Site Area Action Committee, Kotri, has warned of protests if illegal occupation of a ground in Bhitai Colony is not ended.

Speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Wednesday, leaders of the area action committee alleged that land grabbers, led by one Abdullah Warayo Jamali, had occupied the Gharho Ghot ground.

They said that following protests by local people, District Nazim Malik Asad Sikandar intervened in the matter and assured the people that construction work at the ground would be stopped within 24 hours and the accused would be ejected. The ground is used for Eid prayers, funeral prayers, holding fair of Gharho Ghot Pir fair and political and social activities.

They regretted that the construction work had been stopped but the land grabbers had yet not vacated the plot. Answering a question, the committee leaders said the ground was the property of the government. Those who spoke at the press conference included social worker Mehmoodul Hassan Sodhal, STPP leader Shabbir Magsi and PPP activist leader Paryal Kabooro.
