KARACHI: Pollution will be checked, says Saigol

KARACHI, Sept 1: The Adviser to Chief Minister Sindh on Environment, Noman Saigol, on Wednesday said seawater will be regularly checked to information on water pollution, adding laws will be strictly implemented to decrease pollution.

The adviser said that chemical garbage, oil and smoke were harmful not only for human beings, but they also jeopardized marine life, therefore, making it essential to take precautionary steps on emergency basis.

Marine life gets badly damaged due to incidents concerning oil carrying ships, which besides, also contaminate seawater, he added. He said that, with the coordination of the federal government, ships, trailers and boats sailing within the country's marine borders, would be checked thoroughly, to see whether they abide by international laws regarding environmental protection or not.

The adviser urged the masses in general and picnickers in particular to extend their cooperation by not throwing garbage in sea. He also asked industrialists to dump chemical waste after properly treating it. - PPI
