India to train Afghan diplomats

NEW DELHI, Sept 1: Afganistan's Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah and his Indian counterpart, Kunwar Natwar Singh, on Wednesday signed an agreement for New Delhi to assist Kabul in the raising of a diplomatic cadre.

An Indian statement said Dr Abdullah, on an official visit, and Dr Singh signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the Foreign Service Institute of the Indian foreign ministry and the Afghan Institute of Diplomacy.

Under the MOU, the Foreign Service Institute of the ministry of external affairs and the Afghan institute will cooperate in building expertise of Afghanistan's diplomatic cadre.
