ISLAMABAD, Aug 31: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has called for moving forward with the National Reconstruction Bureau's reforms agenda in police, judiciary and the local government system, says NRB chairman Daniyal Aziz.
Prime Minister Aziz and NRB chief Daniyal Aziz held a meeting here in the Prime Minister's Secretariat after the latter called on the former on Tuesday. During the meeting, the prime minister was informed about the working of the local government and some bottlenecks which, he said, needed a strong political will to redress.
The prime minister called for the continuation of the devolution plan to empower the masses. The prime minister said police and judicial reforms should be implemented in letter and spirit.
"There must be a close co-ordination between district government and parliamentarians to ensure early completion of development projects," the prime minister said. Shaukat Aziz asked the NRB chairman to spare no effort to remove bottlenecks in the way of smooth working of the devolution plan and called for the strengthening of the district government system.
He said all stakeholders should actively participate in the development process. The prime minister remarked that the common man had been given due share in the system through the district government system.
