ISLAMABAD, Aug 29: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim called on Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz here on Sunday and discussed matters pertaining to the province, particularly measures being taken to improve the law and order situation.

Talking to the chief minister, the prime minister said the government was striving to improve the quality of life of the common man through economic development.

He said: "Our first and foremost priority is to bring the underdeveloped areas of the country on a par with the developed ones." Provision of basic necessities of life to the people, especially those belonging to the remote and backward areas, is being accorded priority, added.

On the occasion, the Sindh chief minister felicitated the newly-elected prime minister and wished him success. Meanwhile, an 11-member PML delegation, headed by Attock District Nazim Maj (retired) Tahir Sadiq, called on Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Saturday evening and felicitated him on his election as the country's prime minister.

According to a press release, the prime minister said a comprehensive development plan would be launched for country's rural areas soon and it would include schemes for provision of electricity, potable water and health services.

Mr Aziz assured the delegation that a number of development schemes and projects for public welfare would be initiated in the rural areas in the Attock district, especially in Fatehjang and Hassanabdal.

The PML delegation expressed full confidence in the leadership of the prime minister and hoped that Pakistan would prosper economically under his leadership.
