KARACHI: 35 new PMTs planned for Defence

KARACHI, Aug 29: The Karachi Electric Supply Corporation has finalized a scheme to strengthen the distribution network of residential and commercial consumers of the Defence Housing Authority (DHA).

Under the scheme 35 new pole-mounted transformers (PMT), costing Rs10 million would be installed by December 2004, a press release said on Sunday.

A gathering of the DHA residents was informed in detail by the KESC Chief Engineer, Shabbir Solangi, regarding these schemes, while Zafar Iqbal, president, Defence Residents Society (DRS) energized a new PMT at Street 29 Khayaban-e-Seher.

Zafar Iqbal appreciated the efforts of the KESC engineers and staff in improving the power supply system in line with the aspirations of power consumers, residents associations and public representatives.

He said that if the power utility stepped up with its electric supply system improvement work then the electricity consumers could be relieved of the annoyance of frequent power breakdowns and load shedding.

The KESC chief engineer and Zonal Manager Mohammad Obaidullah Tufail assured the residents that a visible improvement in the power supply of the DHA would be experienced with the addition and renovation of the network. - APP
