HYDERABAD, Aug 27: Protest processions were taken out in different parts of Sindh on Friday against desecration of the shrine of Hazrat Ali and other holy places in Najaf, Iraq.

In Hyderabad, the Shia Rabita Council observed Friday as a day of mourning. It organized a march, led by noted scholars Ali Jawadi, Raza Sarewal, Mohammad Ali Jarwar and others, from the Qadamgah Maula Ali to the Kohinoor Chowk. The gathering adopted resolutions, which condemned the US- led attack on the shrine of Hazrat Ali and demanding that the allied forces should leave Najaf.

THATTA: The image of Pakistan in the Muslim world will the tarnished if the government continued to pursue pro-US policies which are against Muslim interests. This was observed by speakers at a protest rally in Mirpur Bathoro against the desecration of holy places in Iraq. After Juma prayers, people emerging from different mosques took out a procession, which marched through streets.

LARKANA: Different Shia organizations took out a procession in Larkana in protest against the US and allied forces. They also staged a sit-in at the Royal Chowk. Khaksar Tehrik workers also took to the streets and assembled outside the press club after marching through the city's main roads.

SUKKUR: On a call of the Shia Action Committee, a black day was observed in Sukkur. Imams of mosques after Jumma prayers condemned US attacks on the shrine of Hazrat Ali.

In Jacobabad, the Asgharia Organization took out a procession which after passing through main thoroughfares the Clock Tower where it converted into a public gathering.

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Protest processions were taken out by the Asgharia Organization in Bhirya and Tharushah on Friday against US attacks on holy places in Iraq. They burnt an effigy of US President George W. Bush and the US flag.

Protest processions were also taken out in Shikarpur, Mirpurkhas and other cities, with participants raising slogans against the US aggression.
