KARACHI, Aug 25: A workshop on "Echo-cardiography" was conducted at the Dow University of Health Sciences with major emphasis on trans-esophageal and stress echo-cardiography.
A DUHS press release issued here on Wednesday mentioned that the event was organized by Prof Khalida Soomro with the support of Dr Wajid Baig, a senior cardiologist at Massachusetts, the USA.
In his presentation on "Recent trends in management of angina and myocardial infarction", Dr Baig underscored the need for proper administration of echocardiography on patients.
He presented the correct methods and views used in the stress echocardiography at his unit in the USA, which was also recommended by the American Society of Echocardiography.
The workshop was attended by more than 50 participants including faculty from cardiology ward and cardiac surgical unit besides those belonging to different hospitals in Karachi and Hyderabad. The workshop was concentrated on trans-esophalgeal and stress echocardiography.
DUHS vice-chancellor Dr Masood Hameed appreciated the efforts of Dr Wajid Baig, a Dow graduate, and said that he was proud of all the Dow graduates offering services to their institution. The vice-chancellor also presented shields to the guest speaker and organizer of the workshop. - APP
