MINGORA, Aug 25: Leaders of citizen community boards have threatened to observe hunger strike against nazims of the district council Swat for creating hurdles in release of developmental funds to the CCBs.

Talking to newsmen here on Tuesday the members of CCB action committee Amjad Ali, Ghani Raziq, Khurshid Ali Khan Bahadurkheil, Mohammad Majeed, Syed Ghani said that 105 CCBs had been so far registered in Swat, but the funds were yet to be released to them.

They said that the CCBs had already deposited the 20 per cent share in banks, but the CCBs 25 per cent share on part of the councils had been blocked by the nazims. It was said that the nazims had got their own CCBs registered in order to get the funds which, they said, was in violation of the local government ordinance.

Referring to a meeting with the members of the district council Larkana, the office-bearers of CCBs said that in other districts funds had been released every year since 2001, but in Swat the situation was quite different.
