FIR against JUI leaders sealed

RAWALPINDI, Aug 24: Aabpara police on Tuesday registered an FIR against Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI) Secretary-General Maulana Ghafoor Haideri and MNA Mian Mohammad Aslam for violating ban on protest demonstrations in the federal capital, a police source said.

The FIR registered against the two JUI leaders and hundreds of its activists has been sealed, however, no arrest has been made so far, the source said. When the police were contacted, they gave no details except for confirming that the FIR had been sealed. But the SHO, Aabpara police station, Ahmed Iqbal, denied registration of any such case in last two days.

The JUI leaders and hundreds of activists had on Monday demonstrated against the crackdown on seminaries by police and demanded arrest of the police officials involved in the killing of Maulana Noor Mohammad in Faisalabad. The demonstration was held in front of Rawalpindi-Islamabad Press Club on Monday.
