KARACHI: FCS directors' appeal

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Aug 23: Seven elected directors of the Fishermen Cooperative Society have expressed concern over delay in the holding of a meeting of the board of directors.

A spokesman for the group, Haji Shafi Mohammad Jamote, said though the elections of the society's 15-member board had been completed on March 4, owing to reluctance on the part of "certain provincial authorities", a meeting of the board is yet to be held.

Talking to Dawn at Karachi Fish Harbour, Mr Jamote said a meeting of the seven elected directors was held here which discussed the post-election situation and legal options for resolving the crisis, resulting from undue delay in convening a meeting of the board.

Mr Jamote said there was a complete chaos and confusion in the harbour as administrative setup had collapsed and illegal orders were being issued by various officials.

He further said that the society had crippled financially as there was no control on fish market and vested interest had been taking full advantage of the situation by depriving the society of its due share. He sought the assistance of the governor in resolving the conflict.
