LAHORE, Aug 20: The Punjab ANF claimed on Friday to have arrested a couple and recovered more than 374 kilograms of contraband from their possession.

A surveillance team was constituted by the force commander on receiving information that the couple gives drug supplies to their customers at reputed hotels.

Identified as Syed Javed Ali and Salma Kaynat, the couple was held when they were due to deliver a consignment outside a restaurant on M. M. Alam Road in Gulberg. Three kilogram heroin was recovered from them.

On their identification, the team recovered 366kg hashish, five kilo opium, 500 gram heroin, Rs47,140 and counterfeit foreign currency besides two pistols, 50 bullets and two cars from their house in the Cantonment area.

The ANF claimed that the couple had been living together posing them as husband and wife. The man has two masters degree and the woman would pose herself as a modern girl from some respectable family during the drugs deals, it said.
