Threatening calls received by Edhi Foundation

KARACHI, Aug 18: The Edhi Foundation has started scanning all donations coming at its different centres in the city after receiving threatening calls of blowing up its Tower Centre here on Wednesday.

The Edhi Foundation on Wednesday received a call threatening to blow up its Tower Centre. Senior official of the Foundation, Rizwan Edhi, told Dawn that Wednesday's call was received from a phone number 9232115. A report was made to the Kharadar Police Station, he added.

On Monday night, the foundation received a threat which was also reported to the police. The call was made from cell number 0300 2814043. "We are now scaning all donations being received at our different centres in the city. Moreover our staff are working under constant fear due to the harassment," Mr Rizwan said.

"We have been receiving similar threatening calls and a letter dated July 30, was also sent to the Divisional Engineer, Cant Telephone Exchange. According to the letter, on July 27, several phone calls were made from numbers 9232118, 9232124, 9232113 and 9232111. The calls hurled abuses against the foundation, Mr Rizwan said.
