JHANG, Aug 18: Constable Zahoor Ahmad, who suffered grievous injuries in an encounter with robbers near Muradwala village in Mochiwala police station precinct on Sunday, died at the Allied Hospital, Faisalabad, on Tuesday.

Mr Ahmad, who was posted at Muradwala post of Mochiwala police station, was a member of the police patrol party that stopped three robbers near Muradwala. The armed men opened fire on the police, who retaliated.

In an exchange of fire, Mr Ahmad suffered injuries and was taken to the Allied Hospital in critical condition where he died. His funeral prayer was offered at the Jhang police lines. DPO Khadim Husain Bhatti has announced Rs500,000 and a day's salary of the policemen posted in the district for the family.
