KARACHI: Faulty signals creating traffic jams

KARACHI, Aug 18: Faulty traffic signal lights are creating havoc for motorists and severe mental stress for all commuters almost round the clock most particularly at rush hours.

The system at Hasan Square intersection has been out of order for the last several days while that at Jail Road, M.A. Jinnah Road and Frere Road are operational with frequent disruptions causing massive traffic jams.

Such situations tend to lead to rowdy situations with motorists keen to rush towards their destinations without any stop signals. Sometimes, they are further seen indulging in abusive language as well as fistfights at the expense of helpless commuters.

Traffic cops at the respective intersections, already few in number, appear to be helpless as they cannot do anything about the conduct of rowdy drivers including those of private vehicles as well as public transport.

A little solace that is offered to citizens at times is the emergence of certain selfless individuals who take upon themselves the responsibility to create sense among the boisterous drivers compelling them to reflect balance and opt for their due chance to pass under human managed system. -APP
