KARACHI: Ibad wants rapid work on housing plans

KARACHI, Aug 18: Sindh Governor, Dr. Ishratul-Ebad Khan has called for accelerated efforts for the launch of low cost housing schemes for low income people living in Sindh.

At a meeting held at Governor House on Wednesday, the Governor reviewed the steps taken so far in this regard and directed that plans for housing schemes for government employees and journalists too should be finalised.

It should be ensured that a government employee does get a personal housing facility at the time of his retirement, he emphasised. He said all district governments and concerned authorities should plan housing projects for journalists in consultation with them and with their cooperation.

The Governor also reviewed the progress achieved in respect of low cost housing schemes started under Taisar Town and New Malir Housing Projects.

He appreciated the construction work in the housing schemes and said the works should be completed within the stipulated time frame by maintaining quality. He directed that water, electricity and other facilities must be provided prior to the settlement of people in both the schemes. -APP
