ISLAMABAD, Aug 13: Indian President Dr.A.P.J Abdul Kalam has sent greetings to President Gen Pervez Musharraf President on the Independence Day of Pakistan.

His message reads: "I extend to you and to the people of Pakistan greetings on the occasion of Pakistan's Independence Day.

"India is firmly committed to the establishment of a relationship of peace, friendship and cooperation with Pakistan. "Recent interaction between the two countries, both at the level of government and people, augur well, and the ongoing process needs to be deepened and intensified in an atmosphere free from terrorism and violence."

MANMOHAN'S MESSAGE: In a message to Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Indian Premier Dr Manmohan Singh said: "On the Independence Day of Pakistan, I extend to you and to the people of Pakistan best wishes on behalf of the government and the people of India. -APP
