KARACHI, Aug 13: Around 800 houses in Pak Colony, Old Golimar and other areas have been getting contaminated water for the last one month.
Residents of the affected areas said although hundreds of houses are being supplied stinking water for the last one month, the KWSB officials have not yet taken measures to rectify the fault responsible for contaminated water supply despite several complaints lodged with them.
They said most of the residents of the affected localities, particularly children and elderly people, often complain of nausea and stomach pain owing to continuous supply of contaminated water.
They said contaminated water is being supplied through those tanks which were built when the Hub dam had gone dry. They said that tanks have never been cleaned, and are not being maintained properly.
They said that while KWSB officials are providing them water through those tanks, the nearby industries are getting piped water. They demanded of the city Nazim and the KWSB managing director to direct the officials concerned to restore supply from pipelines.
SHORTAGE: People residing near 'E' Market, PECHS, Block 6, have been experiencing an acute water shortage for the last one month. Residents of the locality complained that although both the residential and commercial consumers residing in the vicinity of the 'E' Market, often remain without water, the KWSB officials have not yet bothered to restore normal supply to their locality despite a number of complaints lodged with them.
Accusing the KWSB officials of Jamshed Town of giving illegal water connections from their pipeline to commercial concerns, they claimed that since the pipeline had been punctured at various places because of illegal connections, their locality either usually goes without water or gets supply with a low pressure for a shorter duration. They demanded of the KWSB managing director and chief engineer to restore normal supply to their locality.
