By Our Correspondent

GUJRAT, Aug 12: Dacoits looted passengers of a bus, two rickshaw drivers, a hardware shop and the house of a female army officer in five strikes in and around the city during the last 36 hours.

Four robbers boarded a Rawalpindi-bound bus (NRA-5555) from Gujranwala posing as passengers. Near Sara-i-Alamgir, they asked the driver at gunpoint to take the vehicle at a deserted link road and made off with cash and other valuables from passengers. Lahore crime investigation director Javed Farooq was among the victims.

Three bandits intercepted a rickshaw near Majra Shamali, Karrianwala and snatched Rs500 from driver Allah Ditta at gunpoint. Two robbers stopped rickshaw driver Mehboob Shah near Karrianwala and deprived him of Rs300.

Thieves took away cash and prize bonds worth Rs15,000 form the shop of Sheikh Ehsan on Mal Godown road in Lalamusa. Thieves whisked away with 12 tolas of jewellery, cash and saving certificates from the house of a female army officer, Rukhsana Parveen, in Mazhar Town, Kharian.
