KARACHI: Hearing of blast case adjourned


KARACHI, Aug 11: An anti-terrorism court in Karachi on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of trial against nine activists of the banned Harkatul Mujahideen Al-Alami for their alleged involvement in the honorary Macedonian consulate bomb blast and killing case on the request of special public prosecutor.

Syed Sohail Akhtar, Zafar Iqbal, Naeem Rafi, Mohammad Atif, Mohammad Khalid, Mahmoodullah, Abdul Razzaq, Samirullah and Syed Ahmar Kazmi are charged with allegedly killing three persons Hameed Masih, Muhammad Asif and Ms Ghazala Parveen on Dec 5, 2002, who were present at the Macedonian consulate in DHA and later blasting the office with explosive device.

The court was today told by SPP Mazhar Qayyum that eyewitness of case Mohammad Nasim went to Punjab and he is likely to come tomorrow and sought the adjournment.

ATC Judge Haq Nawaz Baloch who conducting the trial inside central jail Karachi, put off the hearing for Aug 13 for deposition by prosecution witness. M R Syed advocate appeared for the defence side. -PPI
