KARACHI, Aug 9: Teachers, parents and rights activists, at a discussion organized by the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan on Monday demanded the government to immediately stop the process of denationalization of education institutions.
The meeting held with the HRCP Sindh council member Iqbal Haider in the chair, and attended by the president of the Sindh Professors and Lecturers' Association, besides educationists, journalists and parents of students also decided to resist denationalization of educational institutions.
During the discussion, participants demanded the Sindh Education department to return the amount it received as fee for imparting IT education from college students and declare IT an optional subject.
They also demanded that IT teachers be trained and their presence at the city colleges be ensured. The participants criticized the denationalization policy of Sindh government and demanded an immediate halt to it, warning the move would be resisted at all fronts and a campaign would be launched against it in collaboration with all stake-holders. -PPI
