LAHORE: PBTE controller of exams sent packing

By Our Reporter

LAHORE, Aug 9: The Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority chairman has removed Punjab Board of Technical Education controller of examinations Akhtar Saghir on the charges of depriving students of their rights.

It is learnt that Tevta chairman Yousaf Kamal, during a visit to the PBTE offices, had received a complaint from candidate Rasool that the board was not declaring the results of five candidates, who appeared from the Government College of Technology in DAE Part-I examination. The examination results were declared in April this year.

On an inquiry, the PBTE controller of examinations told Mr Kamal that there were some ambiguities in the assessment and promotion rules of the DAE and he was trying to sort out those. He said the board had held the results of the five candidates.

The official also admitted that he had neither informed the students nor the board chairman about the situation. The Tevta chairman, it is learnt, took serious notice of the situation and said the controller of examinations should have given relief to the candidates or taken the whole situation on record of the board.

Later, the board declared the results of the five candidates concerned declaring them successful. The Tevta chairman on Monday notified Mr Saghir's removal from the post.
