KARACHI: 'Trading' of educational institutions condemned

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Aug 8: The Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association has termed the latest press statements of Sindh Education Minister Dr Hamida Khuhro as childish and a condemnable attempt at disregarding realities.

According to a press release, the SPLA held an emergency meeting in which the body criticized the education minister for announcing that all educational institutions would be privatized in time.

"The education minister, who took oath as minister less than a month ago, seems to have skewed priorities: instead of promoting education, she is determined to sell educational institutions.

Issues such as promotion of teachers, their seniority lists and move over cases have been ignored. Educational institutions in the private sector are charging exorbitant fees," the press release says.

However, the SPLA welcomed the move of placing educational boards of the province under the education department.
