Pakistani NICs for Kashmiris rejected

By Our Staff Correspondent

MUZAFFARABAD, Aug 7: The Jammu Kashmir National Students Federation (NSF) has decided to protest against the issuance of Pakistani national identity cards for residents of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

NSF president Sardar Kashan Masood at a press conference here on Friday also said an independent government should be established in the AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan with control of all available resources to tackle problems of poverty, unemployment, ignorance, backwardness and injustice.

Mr Masood alleged that the "authority of the so-called AJK government was less than that of a municipal committee because it could neither strike any agreement on its own nor could it check exploitation of its resources.

The NSF chief said Kashmiris had their own identity and should have specific travel documents.
